Frequently Asked Questions
-
I provide the option for us to have the consultation via phone call or secure video call. This is an opportunity to meet before a full scheduled session to discuss the reason why you’re seeking therapy. If you’ve had previous experience with therapy, we can also discuss that. I will share about my approach and toward the end of the call we will determine together if proceeding with a scheduled intake session feels appropriate.
-
If we decide to work together, I will send you a client portal invite from Sessions Health to complete consent and intake paperwork before our first full session together. If you are using Headway for insurance verification, you will receive a Headway client portal invite to secure any insurance billing.
-
The goal of the first session will be to get to know you and build comfortability in our relationship. I will ask you a series of background questions to get a better understanding of what brings you in to therapy. We will work together on creating some therapy goals to guide our work.
-
Every person is different, therefore your sessions will be about you. There’s no definite structure we will follow, I will create space for the sessions to be about what you’d like to bring in that day. We may continue processing or working through a previously discussed/felt experience or we may focus on something new.
-
Ideally, we would start with a session every week until you and I both agree that you’ve progressed to a degree that feels comfortable for you. After that, we may reduce session frequency to every 2 weeks. At any point you have the right to end your therapeutic process.
-
You may notice that the need for therapy changes over the course of your progress. You could notice you’ve accomplished your therapy goals or a general feeling of positive changes.
If that is the case, we will process the changes, growth, and feelings about ending therapy. We will have periodic discussions about your overall progress.
There is no pressure to follow a specific timeline for your therapy journey. The length of therapy will look different for each person and will be guided by what feels appropriate and supportive for you.
-
You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Part of our work together is creating space to explore what feels important, whether that is a current challenge, a recurring pattern, or something you are wanting to better understand about yourself.

I ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a fee.
